It's not your onions!

This French expression makes me smile. The saying is "C'est pas tes oignons !"

It means it's none of your business.

If you translate it literally it reads "it's not your onions".......

And to me France and onions go hand in hand, although it has been a while since I have seen a French man wearing a beret with a string of onions around his neck......maybe these are no longer in fashion in this part of France......or is that I just do not notice them anymore!

Je vous souhaite une semaine fabuleuse,

L x

  2. What a charming way to say 'it is none of your business.' Can I steal this phrase and see if it takes off in America? :-)

  8. Beautiful photo -- I think that there are certain shades of colors that can only be found in France. This is one of them.

The idiomatic expressions in French are just delightful but one must pay attention to the meaning and not inadvertently use one out of context. I have made one "royal" faux pas -- a big one, so I am more cautious now. hehehe
